Woodland Hills is in the City of Los Angeles, at the west end of the San Fernando Valley. A Woodland Hills employment lawyer applies the Los Angeles minimum wage to hours worked here. As of July 1, 2026, that rate is $18.42 an hour. California overtime and break rules apply on top of it.
Warner Center is an office district, not a separate city. Working in a high-rise there does not create an exemption from overtime. Exemption depends on duties and salary, not on the building or the job title.
Warner Center offices and Topanga retail
- Salaried coordinators and analysts who spend most of the week on production work, scheduling, or customer accounts rather than on management or professional duties that the exemption actually covers.
- Commission plans for sales roles. California Labor Code section 2751 requires a written contract for employees who are paid commission. After termination, earned commissions are wages and generally must be paid on the final-pay deadline.
- Retail at Westfield Topanga and nearby stores. Bag checks, unpaid closing, and missed rest breaks are the same claims we see in Sherman Oaks, at the Los Angeles rate.
- Expense reimbursement for phones, mileage between Warner Center sites, or tools the employer required. Labor Code section 2802 requires reimbursement of necessary expenses.
West Valley filing
Woodland Hills employees use the same Labor Commissioner district office as the rest of the Valley: 6150 Van Nuys Blvd., Room 206, Van Nuys. You do not need a separate “Woodland Hills labor board.” Civil lawsuits are filed in Los Angeles Superior Court.
If part of your week is spent at a client site in Calabasas, Agoura Hills, or unincorporated county land, those hours may fall under a different local wage rule. The address of the work matters. Bring the schedule.
